Guiding Serve The King Ministries to Inspire MTU Students

“God’s Word, not human wisdom, is what God requires of those who speak for Him—in counseling as well as in preaching” – Jay Adams

Want to know about what’s happening boots on the ground? This is where you’ll find stories, reflections, and what I have been reading on.

We are creeping closer and closer to the beginning of the semester, and things are threading together nicely:

  • The gagaball arena is put together, painted and ready to go for this week.
  • Our Hot Cocoa Cart is ready to go for the semester.
  • Sion has moved in and is ready and willing to help.
  • We’ve reached just under 800 a year needed for funding.

We already did move in, I am a bit behind on writing this as I wanted to have more pictures, but that will be for next time. The men of Evangel Presbytery have been incredibly encouraging and help in getting things together and working towards the establishment of some more focused things for the campus ministry.

Sion has already been a tremendous help, in helping to engage students and set the example, in getting me in working order and helping me to get things ready, even in just ideas for streamlining (though he laughed when I told him about my dream of making SOP’s (standard operating procedures) for our events).

My hope and prayer for this semester is engaging people with a living gospel, it’s the thing the campus is missing. To hear that you are truly saved by Faith Alone and you don’t have to impress the angry God that many envision. I had a very interesting conversation with a student earlier this summer about how they viewed God the Father as being “an angry professor who is never satisfied with the work I’ve done”. It was good to be able to walk them through the idea that, in truth, the Father so loved the world that He sent the Son down to it. That actually, God loved us before we loved Him, that He sent His Son when we hated Him, when we were at war with heaven. Helping people to see that the Father loved us far before we even dreamed of caring about Him gives a relief of the burden of works and the burden of impressing a God who has given us every spiritual gift.

I’ll have more to talk about when I post next week, but I am greatly encouraged by Sion, the amount of students we engaged with already this week, and the amazing fundraising that has been happening. If you are able, please continue to pray for students, the effectiveness of the Gospel, my wife, and for our fundraising efforts as we are nearly there on our monthly goal that my family would be back up to the wage we had when I worked for my previous ministry.

Praise be to God and thank you for all of your prayers.
