Prayers, Praises, and the Gospel at MTU – First Week of April 2025
Prayer ListChristianity: Light for a World Without Answers – Please pray for me, my preparation, students, faculty, and the city. Pray that God would bring people, use my words, and help change the course of the city and Tech with the Gospel. Our Seniors – We are sending off 13 seniors in a few weeks, many of which are struggling to find jobs. Please pray for them to find provision, even if it is coming back for a masters, and for their witness to the campus as they leave. The Spiritual Depravity – I’ve been getting more into local conversations and it seems that the local community is no different than tech. spiritual apathy, decay, and general hopelessness. Please pray the community, and for the Gospel to reach this city. “The Christian’s motto should not be ‘Let go and let God’ but ‘Trust God and get going. ‘ J.I. Packer
Campus Ministry ThoughtsThis semester has continued to challenge me, unsurprisingly. The number one problem ailing our students is apathy about all things. Every conversation, spiritual or not, with my non-STK students, seems to end up in something akin to “I just wanna get a job and move on”. They are tired, looking towards material, or money, or the next stage as being the fulfillment of life and the end of that rainbow is nothing. It’s always looking ahead to the next thing that offers hope, the next dopamine hit, the next stage. It’s almost exhausting just to talk to someone about it. I’ve been working pretty hard on advertising for the lecture in hopes this gives the pathway to helping the Campus see light, its simply too difficult to break into people’s lives because they want to live them a certain way. The challenge of students here always comes down to the question of willingness. There are few students who are willing to give you time, space, engage, or even be “tempted” by the Gospel. It’s so locked down with homework, with formalities, with false incentives. I would covet your prayers, that we find more students who respond to the Gospel, it’s become an ache that I can’t quite explain, but I’m weary of watching the dissension into destruction that happens, egged on by classes, morality, and “trying really hard”.
