3/10-3/16 Prayer Requests
Prayer ListYoung Couple – Please pray for one of the young married couples from our ministry, they are having a particularly difficult time balancing life and figuring it out Evangelism and changed hearts – Pray for the students as we continue to meet an entrenched people who just don’t want God. Roland and Scott are two young men more interested in philosophy or why the bible could be wrong than actually engaging with who Christ is and what He came for. The University – The Lecture on 4-3 is about how Christianity is our only light in the darkness, please pray for it, for the Lost sheep of Israel to come and believe. Prayer Group – Pray for our efforts to reach the community with prayer, that people would submit prayer requests from the community and we can help people find God. “It is simply impossible to lead, without the aid of prayer, a virtuous life.” – John Chrysostom
Campus Ministry ThoughtsI can’t believe the year is almost over, we’ve got 6 weeks left, but they are a packed six weeks. We’ve got:
Yet, it’s the simplicity of the Gospel message that carries the weight, not how much we do. John 3: Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.” Jesus is very speaking very plainly, you must be born again. There is no substitute, there is no other way. The work we do, the evangelism, the teaching, the time spent, it is all predicated on God changing hearts and minds. There is no other way to do it. The time spent praying, fasting, seeking God in these things is the pivotal part of the work, if we go out and serve on campus, but do it without prayer, without the Hand of God, we might as well just had stayed home. It isn’t about giving a riveting lecture, it isn’t about making a convincing argument, those things are just means to the end because without God they are meaningless. Luke 14:25-33 When we bring the Gospel to people, it changes them forever. The Holy Spirit gives a new heart, a changed heart, a renewed mind. We must consistently and faithfully embrace the expectation that God radically changes the sinner, creating a new creation, a saint. To God be the Glory Brandon Charbonneau |
